November Chapter Meeting
November 2 @ 6:30 pm
Dan Groebner with Arizona Game & Fish asks: What do leopard frogs do in the winter since they don’t have to watch out for a foraging great blue heron? Leopard frogs are a food source for many bird species such as cormorants, ravens, crows, Stellar jays, Black-crowned night herons, kingfishers, and kestrels. Presently they are dying off at an alarming rate during winter hibernation. The Pinetop Game and Fish office staff radio-tracked frogs in their wetland refuge from fall into winter to answer these questions and proceed with re-establishment efforts.
